Neutrino future
ANNOUNCEMENT
A Swiss neutrino meeting
As described in the CHIPP road map, neutrino physics is foreseen to
be one of the three pillars of particle physics in Switzerland for the
next decade or more. Now that it has been established that neutrinos
have mass, fundamental questions arise: why is the mass scale of the
neutrinos so different from other fundamental particles? Are neutrinos,
unlike the other known fermions their own anti-particles? is there CP
violation in the leptonic sector? An understanding of these questions
will certainly require an extension of the Standard Model, and will
most surely provide constraints in the development of unified theories.
The meeting "Neutrino-CH" is organized to discuss the future
options in neutrino physics (J-PARK, Neutrino beams, neutrino factory,
double beta, etc) for swiss physicists. This is in view of achieving
a better coordination between the various groups involved, and hopefully
defining a coherent program. The meeting is under the auspice of CHIPP.
All CHIPP members are invited to participate.
Venue
The meeting will be held in Neuchâtel from Monday, June 21 2004,
10:00, to Tuesday 22, 18:30 at the University. A banquet will be organized
on Monday June 21, in the evening.
