  • The Swiss Physical Society celebrates its 100th birthday in Bern on June 27, 2008. Details about the Succeed in Science event.
  • A new CHIPP Executive Board composed of A. Ereditato, T. Nakada, M. Pohl and U. Straumann (chair) has started on January 1 2008.

2007

  • The Swiss Universities Zuerich, Bern and the ETH Zurich participate in the European Physics Masterclasses for High School Students on 16. and 23. March 07. See the flyer, or click here for more details.

  • The next Swiss Physical Society annual meeting will be held at the University of Zuerich (on Irchel) on 20.-21. Februar 07. Click here for more details

  • The organizers of the Symposium "QCD: Facts and Prospects" in Oberwoeelz (Styria, Austria) in September 2006 would like to inform CHIPP about the announcement below.

  • The 134th CERN council has decided to prepare a European strategy for particle physics. Members of the strategy group are members of the SPC of CERN, members of the council and directors of the major European Labs. From Switzerland these are A. Blondel (SPC), A. Clark(until Dec 2005)/A. Rubbia(since Jan 2006) (ex-officio, chairs of CHIPP), R. Eichler (director PSI).

  • A new CHIPP Executive Board composed of A. Rubbia (Chair), U. Straumann (vice-chair) and M. Shaposhnikov (vice-chair) has been elected for two years starting on January 1 2006.

2005

  • Im Rahmen des Tags der Lehre (14.11.2005) verlieh der Verband der Studierenden an der ETH Zuerich (VSETH) erstmals die "Goldene Eule" an Professoren, die sich in den Augen der Studierenden als Dozenten verdient gemacht haben. Zu den von TV-Moderatorin Sandra Studer verkuendeten Preistraeger gehoerte auch Guenther Dissertori aus dem Dept. Physik. Wir gratulieren zu dem Erfolg ! (siehe ETH-life Artikel)

  • Le Professeur Alain Blondel de la Section de Physique a reçu le Prix Ricard de 2005 décerné par la Société Française de Physique. Ce prix lui a été remis à l'Institut Henri-Poincaré à Paris. La citation de la SFP se trouve ici.
    Nous félicitons le Professeur Blondel pour son succès.
